Oh the pressure social media places on us photo professionals.  Staying current with algorithms and engaging material, keeping our feed looking cohesive and of course, all the dancing reels and sliding images. For a minute we got on that bandwagon, but then asked ourselves, why must our ability be limited to the content of our social platform???  

Mind you, we encourage our fellow peers to make their feed their own.  Play around and have fun with your feeds, and if you love all the trends, videos, etc. do them!  They are lots of fun to watch and scroll through!

Go down a rabbit hole with us for a moment:

When either of us sit down to A. Learn how to do all the fancy social media tricks and B. Take the time to do them, we find ourselves missing out on other things.  Things like, putting our kids to bed at a decent hour, or taking a shower, or editing those pictures we need to finish up.  When the time spent making our feed look pretty robs us of time that could be better spent on other things, well…. You get our point. The stress of putting out the next best thing puts on the hat of competitiveness and ultimately robs us both of the underlying joy that photography ultimately gives.

Aside from time, we find ourselves losing ourselves at the hands of social media.  Burns & Crowe’s tag line is “Honest Moments, Real Smiles”.  That’s what we’re about.  That’s what we’ve always been about.  We want nothing else but to showcase authentic, beautiful, and memorable images and secure a pleasant, long-lasting relationship with our clients.  We have found ourselves in a place losing sleep over the next great post, meanwhile, missing out on just being who we are; creatives.  Together, we have discovered that us and the current fads don’t jive; and we’re cool with that.  There is a mutual agreement that going against the grain and keeping it old school is enough.

Ask yourself, do you go to a certain church because it’s name is plastered on a billboard? No.  You gravitate to a particular church because the messages spoken there penetrate your heart.  You are moved, motivated, and developed by what is spoken and retained rather than by how well branded the building is, or how bright the lights.  We believe the same applies to us.  Don’t buy into us because our network is the latest.  Rather, fall in love with the simplistic idea that we know who we are and we know who we are not.  Feel good knowing we have a passion for lifestyle photography, and that all the fashionable, trendy things aside, our heart is into every click of the shutter.

Expect us to be artistic and unique with imagery.  Playing games, telling jokes and genuinely enjoying each and every session, then showcasing that work with classic image/images.  That’s who we are, and neither of us want to be anything else.  Together we have an organic, revealing, emotional pulling style about our work and don’t want to portray ourselves in any other way.  Quite simply, we are two, busy moms with cameras who enjoy capturing our clients exactly as they are.
